I am a natural light photographer and photograph you and your newborn baby in the comfort of your home or place of choice. Of course, siblings, partners, and four-legged family members are welcome to join in. While we will do some posing the photo session is photojournalistic.
I will bring a few photo props, hats, blankets, etc., and discuss with you any specific wishes you may have before arriving for your newborn photography session. However, I am an organic lifestyle photographer and capture your baby in its natural surroundings. If you are looking for a themed newborn photo session, dressing up your baby like Harry Potter, I am not the right photographer for you.
I believe in timeless newborn photos, that capture the magic of new life.
Having a newborn baby is an exciting time, full of joy and sleepless nights. Babies have their own schedules and as a newborn and birth photographer I understand, that it so often happens, that plans suddenly change. Your newborn baby comes first and his or her safety is more important than any photo. Your baby is in charge, and I will never push poses or make them do something that is uncomfortable for your baby. If your little bundle of joy is not so joyful we will stop the session and continue later or reschedule your newborn photography session.
I have photo props / baby closet available with selections of outfits, hats, wraps and headbands.
Try to keep your newborn awake before the photo session. A nice warm bath is very helpful to keep them awake. I recommend feeding your baby full shortly before my arrival. This usually promotes that the baby is content, sleepy, and overall a more happy camper. Photographing newborns is time-consuming and can take anywhere from 2 – 4 hours. We will need plenty of breaks for feeding, cuddling, cleaning messes, and changing outfits. Most newborns will need feeding breaks especially if they are a little fussy. Naked babies tend to have more accidents, and who can blame them when not confined in a diaper? Have wipes, blankets, trash bags, and diapers ready to be used. Newborns can get cold quick, please keep the designated room for portraiture warm enough so baby stays cozy and warm.
In my early twenties, I worked in a private women’s hospital in Germany as a newborn and delivery nurse. The hospital was specialized in gentle and natural births leaning on the methods of Frédérick Leboyer. I have many years of experience handling newborns not only from a medical standpoint but with patience and tender care for mother and child. Your baby’s needs and safety come first. Even if that means that we have to reschedule your newborn photography session.
I recommend booking your newborn session no later than a month prior to your due date. If you want true newborn photos, “mainly asleep with eyes closed” we will have to schedule your session within 7 days after birth up to 14 days. However, after a week they may already stretch out and are more awake and harder to pose. For parents that want their newborn more awake and playful, I recommend scheduling the session around 4 weeks after birth.
I understand that it takes a lot of trust to have anybody handling your newborn baby. This is why it is very important that you feel comfortable with your photographer. I will apply safety precautions by frequently washing and disinfecting hands and all props & equipment that I will bring to your newborn session.
I do a mix of posed and lifestyle candid newborn photography in your home or location of your choice. I will discuss your specific wishes and if you prefer a candid lifestyle, portraiture, or a mixed photo session. Posed newborn photography will usually take longer and additional hours photography may be necessary.
Newborn photography is available within an hour’s drive from Ocala and includes the Gainesville area, Marion, Lake & Sumter County. I also offer combo packages that include maternity and or birthing photography.

Newborn photography at the place you giving birth. 1 hour Photo session within 48 hours after birth starts at $350 in Ocala. Other locations within an hour's drive will have an added travel fee. Package includes jpg images with print release for personal use.
