Jenn and Franco live in Florida. They decided to exchange their wedding vows on a sailboat without guests. Jenn loves the look of field flowers, and the boat was beautifully decorated to set the stage for their special moment. It was a hot and sunny day, but a gentle breeze and calm waters in the Gulf of Mexico provided a perfect setting for this wedding adventure. Once we were out of the harbor, with open water views, the captain held the heartfelt ceremony. Jenn and Franco exchanged their wedding vows and rings and were pronounced husband and wife.
A wedding ceremony on a sailboat can be a bit challenging; you may have to hold on to the railing at times or onto each other. As a photographer, I have been hired to photograph plenty of weddings and marriage proposals on sailboats and yachts. Yes, it can be tricky to photograph on smaller vessels, but it’s also a lot of fun.
After the ceremony, when the newlyweds toasted with champagne, Jenn said to me I am getting out of this hot wedding dress! No, she did not put on a Bikini, but a cute 50s-style dress. What a great idea to bring another dress that is a bit more comfortable. We had so much fun taking more photos, eating cake, and they enjoyed the sail into the sunset and the harbor of married life. Congrats, what a great day!
A sailboat wedding is not for everybody and has some drawbacks. But if you like a little adventure, privacy, and love the ocean, what could be better than that? if you are planning to embark on a life’s journey alone or with only a few guests, a sailboat wedding might be exactly what you are looking for.
